Initial Ideas Digipak -

Initial Ideas for our Digipak -

1)

This was our first of our initial ideas. The front cover is mainly pink in colour, this is to reflect the name of the song in a visual way. The band name/logo is at the top of the cover so that it is easily recognisable. The name of the song is written in big text so that it is clear and easy to read. The images on the front are a glass of pink lemonade and two lemons. These images are associated with the title of the song making a clear connection for the audience to pick up on and remember. The side panel is simple as it is only a small space. The name of the song is written in bold text with a cartoon wombat at the end, this relates to the band name and allows the audience to associate the song with the band from just the side panel. The back cover uses the same colours as the front and side panel. This creates continuity between the whole digipak, but also makes it recognisable from behind as well as from the front. The name of the band and album name is also feature on the back, this means that it can be recognised from the back if it is put on a shelf the wrong way. There is a track list to show the audience what comes first on the CD. The small images of the strawberries are associated with the name of the album as pink lemonade is often coloured and flavoured by strawberries. Lastly, the band website and record label website are featured on the back cover. This means the audience can find out more information about either the band or the record label if they want to.

2)

This was our second of our initial ideas. The front cover of this also has a pink background referring to the title of the song. The big lemon is also in reference to the song title. The band name/logo and song name are inside the lemon. Having the band name on the front helps to maintain brand identity. The strawberries are also associated with the title as strawberries are often used for colouring and flavouring pink lemonade. The side panel features the song name in bold writing in order to stand out.  The small images on the side panel are again used as a link to the song title. The back cover uses the same pink as the front as its main background, the same pink as the side panel down the sides and a yellow background for the track list. These colours all work well together making it aesthetically pleasing and it also ties in with the song title. The band name/logo and song name also feature at the top of the back panel. This helps the cover to be recognised from both sides. The small images are used to create a visual for the title. Lastly, the band website and record label website are featured down either side of the back cover. This means the audience can find out more information about either the band or the record label if they want to.

3)

This was our third of our initial ideas. The front cover of this also has a pink background referring to the title of the song. The band name/logo is featured at the top, the black colour stands out against the pink making it easy to read and helping to maintain brand identity. The title is represented by images associated with each part of the word. The P is coloured in pink to represent the word 'Pink'. The lemon represents the first part of the word 'Lemonade' and the green cross is associated with aid and represents the 'ade' part of the word 'Lemonade'. The side panel features the song name in bold writing in order to stand out. The small images either side of the song name are used to create a link to the song title. The back cover uses the same pink as the front as its main background colour. The track list background colour is yellow referring to the colour of the lemons. The same images used on the front to spell out the title are used at the bottom of the back cover. This makes it easy to tell from behind what the album is. The band name/logo are also featured on the back cover at the top allowing the audience to immediately identify the album. Lastly, the band and record label websites are featured on the back cover so that the audience can easily access more information about either of them.

4)

This was our fourth and final idea of our initial ideas. The front cover features the same pink background as the other three which is a reference to the name of the song. The band name/logo is featured at the top of the panel with the title underneath it. This makes the album easily recognisable and maintains brand identity. The small lemons to the side of the band name and song name create a link between the song and the visuals making it easy to remember. The main artwork of the front cover is a cartoon of the three band members. It creates a sense of identity about the album digipak and makes it easy to associate the album with the band. Each band member is holding an item that relates to the song title. The side panel uses a yellow background which makes the black of the text stand out and easy to read. The song title is written across the side panel as most CD's are stacked with only the side panel showing. The strawberries are refereeing to the colour of pink lemonade as they are used to create the pink colour as well as adding some flavour. The back cover also features the band name/ logo and song title. It is designed the same as the front to create a sense of continuity. The main image on the back cover is the backs of the cartoon band members.
